In Africa, Sand Cats were recorded in
- south-western Morocco between 2013 and 2018 (Breton et al. 2014; Sliwa et al. 2013, 2016; Bompar et al. 2019).
- Algeria's Ahaggar Mountains in 2009 (Belbachir 2009).
- Niger's Termit Massif between February 2008 and June 2014 (Rabeil et al. 2016).
- Chad's Ouadi Rimé-Ouadi Achim Faunal Reserve in autumn 2014 (Rabeil et al. 2016).
- Egypt before 2004 (Basuony et al 2010).
